Appointment & Membership
- The Mayor appoints six (6) members with the consent of the Board of City Commissioners.
- All members must be residents of Arkansas City.
- The Mayor serves as an ex officio member with voting privileges, but may appoint another City Commissioner to serve in his or her place.
- Term limits: Three (3) consecutive three-year (3) terms.
Representation Requirements
Membership must always include at least four (4) members who are either:
- A person with a disability, or
- A relative or primary caretaker of a person with a disability.
Preference is given to applicants with:
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Expertise in accessibility issues.
Term Length & Meetings
- Terms are for three years.
- The board meets at least twice a year.
- Current schedule: Second Monday of each month, 5:30 PM
