Building Trades Board

Municipal Code Part II, Chapter 14, Article VII, Section 14-200 establishes a nine-member board to oversee licensing and regulation of the building trades in Arkansas City.

  • Two members represent electricians. These must be either two master electricians or one master and one journeyman.
  • Two members represent plumbers. These must be either two master plumbers or one master and one journeyman.
  • Two members represent heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration contractors. These must be either two master specialists or one master and one journeyman mechanical specialist.
  • Three members serve as at-large representatives. These may be general, building, residential, or limited contractors, or citizens familiar with the Arkansas City Building Code
  • All members are appointed by the City Commission
  • Electrician, plumber, and mechanical specialist members serve two-year terms.
  • At-large members serve three-year terms.

Terms are staggered so that no more than one representative from each category (electrician, plumber, mechanical specialist, or at-large) finishes a term in the same year.
