City Commission

 Elections

  • Three of the five City Commissioners are elected every odd-numbered year on the first Tuesday in November.
  • The top two vote-getters earn four-year terms.
  • The third-highest vote-getter earns a two-year term.

At-Large Voting

  • Commissioners are elected at large, meaning every voter in the city can vote for every seat up for election.

Mayor Selection

  • Each January, at the first City Commission meeting of the year, the Mayor is chosen by a vote of the Commissioners. The City Clerk swears in new members before that vote.
  • The Mayor presides over Commission meetings.
  • The Mayor serves as the City’s chief elected official and public representative.

Meetings

  • The City Commission meets twice a month:
  • First and third Tuesdays
  • 5:30 p.m.
  • Commission Room, City Hall, 118 W. Central Ave.

Agendas are prepared in advance and posted on the City’s website. All meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend.
