Brighten the Block Nomination

Brighten the Block is a community recognition program celebrating Arkansas City residents, businesses, and organizations that go the extra mile to beautify their properties and uplift their neighborhoods.

Inspired by City Commissioner Diana Spielman, the award honors everyday efforts—like mowing, planting, painting, and repairs—that make a big impact.

Eligible improvements include:

• Landscaping or yard cleanup
• Exterior painting or repairs
• Renovation or restoration
• Creative curb appeal
• Storefront or business upgrades

Open to residential, commercial, and nonprofit properties within city limits, the program welcomes year-round nominations from anyone. Winners receive a Brighten the Block yard sign and are featured on the City’s social media.
