City Clerk Role

The City Clerk's Office maintains, protects and preserves the city seal and official records of the City of Arkansas City. Serving as the recording secretary for the City Commission and various city boards, the City Clerk prepares, assembles and distributes meeting agendas, packets, and minutes. Provides administrative support the governing body, City Manager and City Attorney through certification and publication of ordinances, resolutions, special assessments and other legal documents. This office also is responsible for maintaining Municipal Code, administering oaths, and serves as the local Freedom Inforamtion Officer. Among these duties, the City Clerk is also responsible for issuing certain licenses and permits including special event permits, various merchant, food vendor, and alcohol licenses.
