Municipal Court Staff

Honorable N.M. Iverson Jr. was appointed Municipal Court Judge in January 1990 by City Manager Curtis Freeland.

Judge Iverson is a lifelong Arkansas City resident. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1964, earned his undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in 1968, and received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1972. After law school, he entered private practice with the family firm, Iverson & Iverson, P.A.

Throughout his career, Judge Iverson has served on several Kansas attorney boards, including more than ten years on the Kansas Ethics Advisory Committee.

Judge Iverson serves alongside his brother, Honorable E. Rodney Iverson, as part of the Municipal Court team, which also includes:
• Laura E. Riggs-Johnson, City Prosecutor
• Andrea Potter, Municipal Court Clerk

Honorable Judge Rod Iverson was appointed Municipal Court Judge in January 2021 by City Manager Randy Frazer. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1971, Southwestern College in 1975, and Washburn Law School in 1978.

Judge Rod Iverson practiced law with the Iverson & Iverson, P.A. firm in Arkansas City alongside his father, Norman Iverson Sr., and his brother, Judge N.M. Iverson Jr., until his retirement from private practice in October 2019.

During his legal career, Judge Rod Iverson was a member of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association, the American and Kansas Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American, Kansas, and Cowley County Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Kansas, the federal courts, and the United States Supreme Court.
