No Injuries Reported in Arkansas City Garage Fire

On June 28, 2025, shortly after 10:00 p.m., the Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded to a 911 call reporting a structure fire in the 1300 block of North 4th Street.

Arkansas City units — including Engine 52, Tanker 51, and Command 51 — arrived to find a garage fully engulfed in flames, with a vehicle inside. The fire had begun to spread to a second vehicle parked nearby and was threatening the rear of the adjacent home.

All four occupants were able to safely evacuate the residence. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews quickly attacked the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading into the home’s interior. Mutual aid from the Winfield Fire/EMS Department assisted with suppression efforts and helped stop the fire from reaching neighboring properties.

Arkansas City firefighters remained on scene overnight to monitor for flare-ups.

Following an investigation by Arkansas City Fire Marshal Gary Bowker, in coordination with the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was determined to have originated in the garage. The exact cause remains undetermined. Estimated property loss is approximately $50,000.
