Arkansas City Fire/EMS to Host Annual Fill the Boot Fundraiser on Labor Day
The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department will once again join the national “Fill the Boot” campaign to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
This year’s fundraiser will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of the department will be stationed along Summit Street between Central Avenue and 5th Avenue, collecting donations.
For decades, fire departments nationwide have partnered with MDA to raise essential funds for research, treatment, and support services for families affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. The annual “Fill the Boot” campaign has become a hallmark of that effort.
“Our community continues to show incredible generosity,” said Fire Chief Stuart Cassaboom. “Funds raised will go directly to MDA programs that provide research, care, and support for families living with neuromuscular diseases, and we are proud to do our part.”
