Ribbon Cutting Planned For New Entrance Signs

The City of Arkansas City and the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce invite the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. The event will take place at the south entrance to Arkansas City, just off US 77 on 61st Road, to celebrate the completion of four new “Welcome to Arkansas City” signs.

The ceremony is being held at the south entrance, where the first sign was installed. Additional signs have been placed at the north and east entrances, along with new lettering on the West Madison Bridge, as part of a broader initiative to enhance and standardize the city’s entryways.

This project, which began planning in October 2024, was funded with up to $42,474 from tourism funds. The new signage features a modern logo that reflects Arkansas City's rich heritage and forward-looking spirit.

The cost covers the stone and hand engraving provided by Silverdale Quality Stone, lighting supplied by Alcon Lighting, and lettering done by Sign Solutions. Installation was carried out by city staff.
