Notice of Hearing to Ecxeed Revenue Neutral Rate and Budget Hearing

The City of Arkansas City will hold two public hearings on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, 118 W. Central Ave.

The first hearing will be on exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR). Immediately following, the governing body will conduct the 2026 budget hearing.

Both hearings are open to the public and provide taxpayers the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback about how city funds are used and the amount of property tax (ad valorem) to be levied for the 2026 budget year.

The proposed 2026 budget calls for total expenditures of $42.1 million, with a proposed property tax levy of $5.4 million. This represents an estimated tax rate of 58.274 mills, compared with last year’s rate of 62.590 mills.

Detailed budget information is available at City Hall during regular business hours, on the City’s website at www.arkcity.org, and will also be available at the hearings.
