Efforts Underway to Maintain Meal Services for Local Seniors

The City of Arkansas City, the Arkansas City Senior Center, and the South Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging are working together to ensure continued meal service for local seniors as the current Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels contract comes to an end.

The existing contract with Aging Projects Inc., doing business as Everfull, will conclude on Thursday, June 27, 2025. Efforts are currently underway to secure a new provider and establish a new agreement as quickly as possible to minimize any disruption in service.

“There is a chance there may be a brief period when meals are not available,” said Kristin Sparks, Director of Senior Services. “While we hope to avoid any gap, we want participants to be prepared just in case.”

To help during the transition, frozen meals will be distributed to participants.

Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact Kristin Sparks at the Senior Center by calling 620-441-4419.
