Brighten the Block community improvement award launched by City
The City of Arkansas City is proud to launch Brighten the Block—a new community recognition program celebrating residents, business owners, and organizations who take pride in their properties and help beautify their neighborhoods.
The idea came from City Commissioner Diana Spielman, who wanted to highlight the everyday efforts that make a big impact on the look and feel of our city.
“So many people are out there mowing, planting, painting, and just taking care of their spaces,” Spielman said. “It may seem small, but those efforts can uplift an entire neighborhood.”
Brighten the Block recognizes properties that stand out for improvements such as:
- Landscaping or yard cleanup
- Painting or exterior repairs
- Renovation or restoration
- Creative curb appeal enhancements
- Business or storefront upgrades
All residential, commercial, and nonprofit properties within the city limits of Arkansas City are eligible. Nominations are open year-round, and anyone can submit a property for consideration.
Winners will receive a Brighten the Block yard sign and be featured on the City’s social media platforms.
To nominate a property, visit arkcity.org or go directly to the form at https://rb.gy/7hk69x.
“This is a simple way to celebrate the people who are helping move our city forward—one block at a time,” said City Manager Randy Frazer.
