ACPD Launches You Drink. You Drive. You Lose Campaign

Recently, the Arkansas City Police Department, in collaboration with other police agencies across Kansas, launched an enforcement campaign called You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.

This campaign aims to crack down on impaired drivers on the roadways from now to Labor Day, September 4. The goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and remove such drivers from the roads.

It is illegal to drive while impaired, yet one person is killed in a drunk driving crash every 52 minutes in the United States. Just one drink before driving can put you and others in danger because alcohol impairs thinking, reasoning, and muscle coordination.

"The You Drink. You Drive. You Lose enforcement campaign is intended to remind drivers to take a moment to consider how it would be to begin every day with the memory of your decision if it resulted in injury or death," said Arkansas City Police Chief Eric Burr. "If you are driving impaired, you are not only more likely to crash, but that crash is much more likely to cause severe injury or death. Think about your family, your friends, your coworkers, neighbors. And always wear your seat belt. It's your best defense against impaired drivers."

The Arkansas City Police Department is steadfast in its commitment to uphold impaired driving laws and other critical traffic regulations actively and rigorously.

"Our dedication to this cause extends far beyond this ongoing enforcement campaign. We are resolute in ensuring road safety and protecting lives, maintaining constant vigilance throughout the year. Your safety is our priority, and you can trust that we will continue to create safer roadways and communities," Chief Burr said.
