Arkansas City man arrested for marijuana, child endangerment

Adams accused of possession with intent to sell in ‘dangerous environment’

Arkansas City Police Department logoThe Arkansas City Police Department on March 5 arrested an Arkansas City man for multiple drug offenses and also on child endangerment charges.

Chad Jarrod Adams Sr., 29, was arrested on suspicion of no drug tax stamp, possession of drug-sale paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell marijuana and two counts of endangering a child.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Adams since has posted bond and been released.

Police were dispatched about 3 p.m. March 5 to a residence in the 400 block of West Bryant Road to investigate an odor of a controlled substance.

They located the source of the odor and contacted the resident at that location. A drug investigation ensued and a search warrant was conducted at the home.

During that search, officers found several items of evidence, including a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and collected them.

They also found an environment that was deemed to be dangerous to the two children, aged 3 and 7, who were living in the residence.

The suspect was found to have consumed the illegal substance.

He was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
