The Arkansas City Police Department is dedicated to protecting the youth of our community and preventing young women from sexual assault. One of the most effective ways to accomplish these two missions is to aggressively enforce underage drinking laws. Approximately half of the rapes reported in Arkansas City occur at underage drinking parties. Underage drinking parties breed several other types of crime and risky behavior as well. The police department and Arkansas City EMS have responded to numerous underage drinking parties to find cases of alcohol poisoning, battery, theft, drug law violations, and damage to property. Other nearby communities have even experienced homicides at underage drinking parties. The Arkansas City Police Department will not stand idly by and watch these things happen to our young people, and as citizens and parents, neither should you!
Underage drinking is not a rite of passage, it is dangerous. As a parent of an Arkansas City Teen you are MORE dedicated to the safety of your child than we are. The longer you child waits to drink, the safer they are. So how do you help prevent your child from becoming a victim of the dangers of underage drinking? The Arkansas City Police Department has provided the link below to MADD’s Power of Parents, it’s your Influence website that offers numerous tools that you can use to talk with your teen about drinking. Please take advantage of these vital resources, and of course the police department is always at your disposal to offer help.
We are on your side, let us know what we can do!
