Arkansas City man arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault
Police respond July 5 to incident in the 200 block of East Jefferson Avenue
An Arkansas City man was arrested July 5 by the Arkansas City Police Department in connection with a reported assault in southeast Arkansas City.
Enrique Corza Hernandez, 53, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.
He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $3,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.
Hernandez remained in custody at the time of this release.
A 40-year-old Arkansas City man came to the Arkansas City Police Department about 12:45 p.m. to report an aggravated assault that had occurred in the 200 block of East Jefferson Avenue.
The victim said he was trying to pick up an acquaintance in the area when Hernandez allegedly approached him, wielding a knife.
The victim knew the suspect and they had been involved in an ongoing dispute prior to this incident.
Hernandez was located later by police and taken into custody.
A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
