Outdoor Family Movie Series to resume June 12 at Wilson Park
New ‘Jumanji’ film planned after market; ‘Despicable Me 3’ repeats in Newkirk
The 2018 Outdoor Family Movie Series will resume June 12 in Arkansas City with a jungle-themed movie under the Wilson Park rotunda, 701 N. Summit St.
The 2017 comedy “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” sponsored by The Stock Exchange Bank, will be shown starting around 7 p.m. June 12. The PG-13-rated film is approximately two hours long.
The movie will begin shortly after the Arkansas City Farm and Art Market ends. The market runs from 4 to 7 p.m. under the rotunda. This particular market is expected to be the largest of this month. It will feature a special Father’s Day basket giveaway, live music from Troy Pulver and food samples.
The Smoke Happy BBQ food truck will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. for visitors to enjoy brisket or pulled pork sandwiches.
Free bottled water, donated by Orscheln Farm & Home, will be provided to movie attendees.
At least six more movies are planned this year, including a recent Marvel Cinematic Universe hit and a “three-quel” to the last two years’ showings of “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory” at Paris Park Pool.
This will be the first of two films to be shown regionally next week.
The movie series will return at 8:30 p.m. June 15 with another special outreach night on the Kay County Courthouse lawn in Newkirk, Oklahoma, with a replay of “Despicable Me 3” planned in conjunction with various community events.
“We are so appreciative of the generous sponsors who make these wonderful events possible,” said City Manager Nick Hernandez.
“If you are interested in being a sponsor this year, please call myself or Andrew Lawson at 441-4415 to discuss pricing options. There still are some opportunities available in the fall!”
